Drowning IS Preventable

Bev planned and carried out an award-winning child drowning prevention public education campaign. Her response to a federal RFQ snagged a $1.3 million contract for the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. Bev worked under contract with the nonprofit to implement the Drowning is Preventable campaign which won honorable mention in PR News Nonprofit Awards in the Public Service category. The social media strategy and execution won PR Newswire’s Earnies Award for results based on listening, monitoring and measurement and the two video public service announcements won prestigious Telly Awards.

Social Media for The Compassionate Friends

Bev provided council to national support group for bereaved parents on how to create and best practices for using a Facebook Page. Previously only its regional chapters were using Facebook. The organizations Facebook Page gathered more than 10,000 participants in its first year. The Compassionate Friends now successfully uses its Page for fundraising and to promote its annual national conference. By October 2013 its Facebook Page had nearly 62,000 followers.

Be Red Cross Ready

While at MediMedia, now doing Business as Krames Staywell, Bev developed four publications in the American Red Cross’ Be Red Cross Ready Safety Series: Family Care giving, Dog First Aid, Cat First Aid, and A Family Guide to First Aid and Emergency Preparedness. Several of these publications received Mom’s Choice Awards.

TE Connectivity Gives Back

Charlotte partners with TE Connectivity to implement strategic global giving and volunteer programs. She has created new programs and revised existing ones, drafted new policies, developed local giving criteria and processes, created leadership presentations, and is currently managing a vendor RFP project. She also helped over 2,000 employees participate in a national walking and fundraising challenge for the American Heart Association. This was the company’s first and largest community endeavor raising $515,000 in 2012.

Oracle Is Ready When The Time Comes

Charlotte secured funding and employee support from Oracle to engage in Ready When The Time Comes, a disaster volunteer program with the American Red Cross. If a catastrophic disaster strikes the San Francisco Bay Area, Oracle employees are prepared to lend their assistance to set up a Red Cross shelter and provide first aid for the Redwood Shores community.

Virgin America Celebrates Heart Month

Charlotte helped Virgin America participate in Heart Month in February by having in-flight teammates wear red dress pins and offering fliers the opportunity to donate to the American Heart Association through the in-flight entertainment system. Teammates also passed out bookmarks with information about controllable risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Passengers even got a chance to have their picture taken with Ticker!

Charlotte found funding for the first American Heart Association Teaching Gardens in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mills-Peninsula Health Services and SanDisk provided the resources for selected schools to plant a garden of fruits and vegetables and teach the kids healthy eating habits.

National Walking Day

Charlotte led the effort to engage over 1,500 San Francisco Bay Area residents in National Waking Day, an effort by the American Heart Association to encourage individuals to walk for 30 minutes that day and adopt walking as part of a physically active lifestyle. Walkers received “I Walked Today” stickers and participation was tracked online. Several companies even hosted their own National Walking Day celebrations.
